Speaking on Tuesday, the traders said they might be forced to close business when rains start.

"We don't want to go through the experience again because it was devastating. We appeal to the county government to heed to our pleas and get us better stalls," Penina Kirima said.

Her sentiments were echoed by Rose Juma.

"Some of our goods were swept away and now we are almost facing the drama again because the long rains start in March," Juma said.

Damaris Kerubo on her part queried why estates like Shabab had better stalls while Pondamali had none.
