One of the things that make Nakuru Town famous all over the country is the fact that it is the first to have free Wi-Fi provided by the government.
For anyone visiting the town for the first time, it might prove a hassle to find the best spots to use the service that recently won a global award for changing lives.
The most popular spot for using the free service is along Kenyatta Avenue opposite Merica Hotel. The area just outside National Bank and Rafikiz Club has ample sitting and standing space without the hassle of traffic and many youth are to be found surfing here from early morning.
Then there is the “Bilawaya Corner” within Nyayo Gardens. It is only at the left hand side corner of Nyayo gardens where you can access Bilawaya via the hotspot at the Old Town Hall. This hotspot can also be accessed along the Old Town Hall wall opposite the Nakuru County Headquarters.
If you’re adventurous, you can also access the Bilawaya hotspot at Afraha Stadium. The area is peaceful without the huge human and vehicular traffic but safety is a concern and using a laptop there is a no no.
Another popular hotspot is within and just outside the Wakulima Market. The hustle and bustle of the market goers and travellers makes the hotspot not so ideal for surfing freely unless you know someone within the market where you can sit and access the net.
