For the last five days, business activities in Kwa Mathathi area in Kangundo have been at a standstill due to a power blackout.
Residents said that they notified Kenya Power and Lightening Company (KPLC) branch at Tala town but got no response let alone help to sort out the power issue.
The residents said they are incurring great losses, especially those operating businesses which require electricity throughout.
According to Mueni Mutuku, a hairdresser in the area, the problem has diverted her customers to Tala town. She said she has really been affected by the blackout since most of the services she offers need electricity.
"I don’t know what to do. I am humbly asking for this problem to be solved by the appropriate parties,’’ she said.
Another business person who operates a cyber cafe in the small town name said that he just closed his business because that was the only solution he had after the blackout.
"I shut down due to this problem. I honestly cannot work without power,’’ he said.
