Speaking in his office on Wednesday, the principal Greenvale Academy Mike Okwiri said the national government through the Teachers Service Commission should come up with mechanism's to ensure students are taught well and on time.

"Poor performance in public schools is occasioned by teacher absenteeism, poor coverage of the syllabus and strikes," he said.

Okwiri said the signing of performance contracts will improve service delivery since they will be monitored and put on task to show cause why they are not performing.

"The national government through the Ministry of Education has all the resource compared to private schools that will make them perform better," he said.

He also urged the national government to ensure all schools are given the same slots in the Form One selection since all schools went through the same curriculum.

"We are really disappointed with the national government through the Ministry of Education for giving private schools less slots in the form one selection. Our students are just like the ones in public thus they should be given equal chances,"he added.
