The Kisii Private School’s chairperson has defended the institutions over alleged poor delivery of education, following a report which was launched by a number of education stakeholders on Tuesday.
The stakeholders, among them teachers union Knut and civil societies, blamed the private institutions of valuing proceeds rather than quality education leading to students struggling in high schools and institutions of higher learning.
But on Tuesday, Mr Charles Mochama dismissed the content of the report terming it ‘a mockery’ and pointing out that it lacked credibility hence flawed.
“I only saw them launching the report condemning the private institutions. I think their findings were a mockery to the education system meant to sabotage huge contribution of private institutions in the education sector,” he said.
He said private institutions for years have produced quality graduates who have excelled in life contrary to the report.
“I am sure some of them who carried out the research could have been students in private institutors. Our schools are well equipped and the only difference is that we have teachers we are qualified but not employed by Teachers Service Commission.
“I refuse to believe that private schools are after making profits from parents and that we are using untrained teachers. Most of our teachers are trained and observes high levels of intellectualism during teaching and that’s why we have dominated in the education sector for long,” he added.
