A group of class 8 pupils who did not perform well in last year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education have decided to go back to school.

The pupils drawn from Soweto, Lindi and Kisumu Ndogo have opted to go and try their luck once again at school.

They are optimistic that they will succeed come the end of the year.

Majority of them scored less than 200 marks, which means their chances of being selected to join secondary school are in jeopardy.

Resitting the exams is the only way they have to join secondary school and realise their dreams, they told this reporter.

"I want to score 400 marks and above," said one, who only identified himself as Odhiambo after scoring 215 marks.

The former Olympic Primary School pupil said that he has learn from his past failures and that he is going to be a different person once he is re-admitted to school.

Another one who identified himself as Mwaniki acknowledged he performed dismally in the exams.

He said lack of seriousness cost him dearly and that he is going to change.

His performance of 235 marks was not too good according to him.

"Am going to pass. I will disapprove my doubters," she said.

Another pupil, Ochieng, wasn't any different in his views.

He feels that all is not lost even as he hopes to rediscover his ability he has been known for many years.

"I want to be a Doctor," he said during the Friday interview.

"My poor performance hasn't changed my dream."

To him, going back to school is the best way to help him achieve that.
