Organizers of the much anticipated Nyamira Youth Summit scheduled to take place on December 27, 2015 are finding it difficult to convince the intended audience about the objectives of the summit.
This comes after two factions emerged from among the youths with one claiming that organisers are stage-managed by politicians against the leadership of area governor John Nyagarama to settle a political score with another faction claiming that the organisers have been compromised by the county government and were, therefore, holding the event for their selfish gains.
Fielding questions in a heated debate in official Youth Summit Facebook group, co-chair of the summit Nyambega Gisesa dismissed the reports and said officials were holding the summit for the purpose of discussing the contemporary issues affecting the youths among them unemployment and segregation of youths from leadership and economic empowerment opportunities.
Gisesa urged the youths to dismiss the propaganda that organizers were working for either the government or the opposition in the county at the expense of the fundamental youth affair issues.
“We consulted youths widely about the summit and there no doubt that we are discussing issues affecting the youths among them unemployment and seclusion from economic empowerment projects by both county and national leadership. I urge the youths to ignore the propaganda that we are hired by either the opposition or the county leadership and come in numbers from the meeting,” he said.
Gisesa also confirmed that the organisers have already secured the venue and officially informed the county commissioner and OCPD so that security officers are deployed to beef up security in the function.
“All is set now and we are just waiting for the day. We have informed the county commissioner and the area OCPD and there is no doubt that we will have police officers to beef up security during the event,” he added.
Among the guest speakers of the meeting will be county Speaker Joash Nyamoko, Mr Erustus Moturi of Egesa FM, Mr Casper Sitemba of intergovernmental relations among others.
