Speaking in Eldoret town on Saturday, after attending a farmers meeting, Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga said TSC should have already paid teachers their dues and should refrain from "using delaying tactics".

"If the president has directed TSC to pay teachers, why are they running to court to appeal on the same. I am reading malice in this directive. It was just a move to bring calmness to teachers," he said.

He said the government is the one funding TSC and as such wondered why the commission should ignore the president's directive to pay teachers their September salaries.

"I urge president Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene so that teacher's September pay may be paid with immediate effect," he said.

Odinga said teachers have been suffering since time immemorial saying it was time the government settled their salary pleas once and for all.
