He instead urged the leaders to fight for their seats come 2017.

Ranguma said most senators are popular at a national level and are mostly seasoned politicians. They are therefore better placed to vigorously campaign for Raila in his presidential race. Ranguma said this on Wednesday during a morning talk show on Radio Nam Lolwe.

"The senators should not come to the grass roots to contest for the gubernatorial positions. Their efforts are needed nationally for our leader Raila Odinga's presidential campaigns," he said.

Some CORD senators have hinted their gubernatorial ambitions come next year. In Kisumu, Senator Prof Anyang' Nyong'o, has revealed his interest in the seat. Other CORD senators salivating for the seats include Siaya Senator, James Orengo, his Mombasa counterpart, Hassan Omar, among others.
