Governor Jack Ranguma and County Assembly Speaker Pamela Jossy have vowed to work together to serve the people of Kisumu.

With barely one year and few months remaining before the end of the first term of devolution, the two have decided to bury their differences and work together for the benefit of residents who want service delivery.

“I have been clear from day one that my vision was, and continues to be, to make Kisumu a better place to live, work and raise a family. This is also the vision for ODM party – better vision for all,” said Ranguma.

He stated that just as parents struggle to provide better lives for their children, his team intends to provide a better county for the next generation.

“This doesn’t come easy, it calls for hard work, reform and the ability to identify challenges and present bold solutions. I county on you, honorable members to help us achieve this dream,” said the governor, who was speaking during the re-opening of the County Assembly after a long recess.

For the better part of last year, the assembly was rocked with wrangles that made it operate for months without a substantial Speaker after Anne Adul was impeached, and County Assembly Service Board, whose members were also facing corruption charges in court.

Jossy assured the governor that they will work together to achieve their goals.

“The consistent fight between us and the Executive has derailed our activities in the House. We will work together to fast tract legislation,” said Jossy.
