Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has opened a training programme aimed at developing the skills of drillers in the county.
According to the governor, the drillers will operate water drilling machines aimed at digging up at least 50 boreholes.
The boreholes to be drilled are in areas that are not covered by the Kisumu water company.
At the end of the exercise, the governor estimates that more than 200,000 homes, in Kisumu’s rural and urban areas, will have access to clean water.
