Kisumu county Governor Jack Ranguma has been urged to urgently operationalise the county Land management board and city management board.
MCAs Elijah Omondi (Central Nyakach), James Diang'a (North Seme) and Prisca Misachi (Kaloleni-Shauri Moyo) said lack of the boards is affecting service delivery to residents.
Speaking in Kisumu town on Sunday, the MCAs accused Ranguma of frustrating the formation of the boards.
“Most counties have established the board and we are wondering why the governor is still sitting on the list,” Omondi said.
He added that the National Land Commission (NLC) had given counties up to April 15, to put in place land boards.
Diang'a said interviews for the board members were done in 2014 and vetting carried out in February this year, yet the board is not functional.
"The board should be in place to deal with the past land injustices and set up legislative policies on land in the county," Omondi said.
Misachi added that the activities of the city should be best managed by the city board and urged Ranguma expedite its formation.
She wants the land board to take full charge of all land transactions at the county level. Misachi said the county boards should ensure no land injustices take place in any county.
They were reacting to a recent vacate notice letter by county attorney A .W Omollo to tenants at the Jomo Kenyatta Grounds.
The notice requires the tenants to vacate the premises on December 15 for renovation.
