Lodging owners in Matungulu Sub-County have been advised to ensure they record the details and information of their customers.
Speaking in his office in Kisukioni on Tuesday, Matungulu deputy county commissioner Patrick Mwangi said many lodging owners do not record their customers details, making it difficult for police to track them down in case they commit a crime.
Mwangi said they have in the past received reports of people being murdered and robbed in lodgings, and thus it is important for owners to have a record of their customers to assist police in investigations.
"It is important for lodging owners to always keep a record of their customers' information to ease police work whenever a crime is committed,” said Mwangi.
He cautioned lodging owners against admitting customers who do not posses identification cards or passports.
This comes two days after a woman was murdered in a lodging in Donyosabuk.
The police said the lodging administration could not provide them with any information about the suspect or the victim.
