Head of operations in the organisation Innocent Kimani said the campaign will target mainly female commercial sex workers in the estate’s entertainment joints before culminating in HIV/Aids testing.

"We plan to conduct an extensive awareness campaign against HIV/Aids in several parts of the county in which we have identified Tanners estate as our number one target. We want to sensitise mostly female commercial sex workers in the area about the disease and possibly carry out tests on those who would be willing to know their status," he said.

He added that the estate was one of the most affected areas in the county by the scourge and hence the drive to redeem the situation before it gets out of hand.

"We have reports that this area has a higher index in terms of HIV/Aids transmission and that is what we seek to alleviate as a society. Therefore, this weekend is just but one among the several dates we have set aside to conduct this awareness campaign," he said.

He added that the number of commercial sex workers in the estate was another reason why they considered it prime for the campaign.

However, Kimani clarified that anybody else who would be interested in knowing their status to come along with their partners and called on residents to turn up in large numbers for the campaign which will kick off this evening.
