Former Rongai legislator Luka Kigen and Naivasha MP John Kihagi on Friday made the separate calls, adding that the Pope's demeanor since he jetted in the country two days ago, was a wakeup call to the Kenyan clergy who have a penchant for lavish lifestyles.

"I must admit that I have been impressed by Pope Francis ever since he arrived. From riding in a modest car to interacting with the less privileged in the slums, I believe he has set the bar quite high for the Kenyan clergy who only want to be seen driving in convoys and meeting the who is who in the republic," stated Kigen in Nakuru town.

On his part, Kihagi lauded the pontiff whom he praised for exhibiting servant leadership and great humility.

"The Pope has really shown us that leadership is not all about pride , arrogance and the clamour for high-end living. His conduct throughout his stay here is indicative of a Pope willing to serve God and give hope to the hopeless. Our clergy should readily emulate such a man," he averred.

The same sentiments were echoed by PCEA Nakuru East Archbishop Jonathan Kareithi who said indeed the Catholic head was a true hallmark of what God's servants ought to do.

He admitted that though he belonged to a different faith he was proud of how the pope had inspired hope and humility among the Kenyan faithful through his message and deeds.
