Owners of private parcels of land in Thika sub-county have been called upon to cooperate with the county government to enable easy implementation on development programmes.

Thika West sub-county Administrator Rose Muthoni has said that some development projects have stalled because some owners of private lands had objected to their sections of their lands being used in some of the projects being implemented by the county government.

"I would request residents to cooperate with the county government and stop being an impediment to developmental projects that we seek to implement. Not all forms of land use by the government needs compensation especially those that do no interfere with the owner's use of land," said Muthoni in her Thika Town Hall office.

"When others go to court to seek court orders to stop the county government from implementing particular projects because their land will be used in one way or another, it becomes hard for us to achieve any meaningful development," said Muthoni in her Town Hall office on her Thursday.

Muthoni cited a water expansion project that had stalled in Ziwani as some land owners had objected to the piping network passing in their lands. She said that the project could by now have completed and all residents benefited from regular water supply.

Muthoni asked land owners to be raising their concerns early enough for timely intervention to be made rather than waiting for projects to start being implemented to raise objections.
