A huge number of Kamwangi residents wearing white t-shirts came out in large numbers on 31st October 2015 to clean Kamwangi town.
The Gatundu North Sub-County environment officer Beatrice Mueni, the Sub-County commissioner Daniel Nyamiti and area Nyumba kumi officers also wore gloves for the cleaning course.
Led by Mueni, the residents started at Kabuu near the government offices to Kamwangi town and later proceeded to the dumpsite where a thorough cleaning was conducted all in the name of creating a clean environment in Kamwangi.
"I have witnessed unity among our residents today. Not many people can volunteer to clean a town they never even littered; our health and environment department in this area is doing a wonderful job," said Monicah Ngonyo, a resident.
"I would like to thank our loyal residents; i'm surprised by the unity they’ve shown and indeed our town will now remain clean. We have officially opened the dumpsite after the clean up and more protective measures to avoid health hazards will be put in place to avoid diseases," said Beatrice Mueni.
Nyamiti lauded the unity among the residents who attracted a huge following in Kamwangi and urged them to not only remain clean but safe.
