Residents of Kisii county have lauded governor James Ongwae for launching a project in partnership with the German Bank for Development (KFW) to improve water supply in the county.
The project will address the existing water supply and sanitation challenges.
Speaking at the launch of the equipment in Kisii town, Governor Ongwae said an infrastructure upgrade will be done to improve water supply to residents.
The equipment commissioned by the governor includes: 5012 consumer water metres, 1 portable meter testing kit, 69 valves and fittings, 1 HDPE hydraulic Butt fusion machine, among others.
Residents said the project, as a basic need, will be helpful to their daily activities.
"We will now have our basic needs to be catered for rather than the tertiary needs," said Albert Nyamweya, on behalf of the residents.
