The Kaewa location chief Mr. Titus Mbuva said that the poor drainage system is unable to withhold the rain water hence bursting and spreading dirt all over making the market's environment not fit for business operations.

"We are now calling upon the county government of Machakos to act as fast as possible because the situation is becoming more and more unbearable as the rains persist," said chief Mbuva.

The Machakos county government minister John Kioko Luka who heads the department of Roads, Transport, Public works and Housing, responded immediately to the people's grievances saying that he will initiate a project of constructing a proper drainage system in the area as soon as possible.

Kioko further said that he wants to ensure clean working conditions not just in Itheani market but in all Machakos urban centers.
