Kaptembwa chief Stephen Koech wants residents to report criminals to the police in order to stem the new wave of crime that has hit the area.
Speaking on Thursday, Koech advised residents that reporting wrongdoers to the relevant authorities at the right time was the surest way of tackling crime.
"If you know that someone is a criminal yet you keep it to yourself and then when you are robbed you start complaining that the police are not doing their duty, are you really being wise? Let us help fight this war by informing the police about suspected criminals," he advised.
He at the same time urged residents to be on the lookout especially during this festive season stating that criminals were out to reap from where they did not sow.
He also took the opportunity to warn criminals that they would not hesitate to subject them to the full force of the law should they be caught and dared them to quit their criminal activities.
He added that the location would continue to partner with the county government to help boost security so that residents can go about their businesses unperturbed.
