Residents of Kiambu township have been urged to take responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness of Kiambu town in order to avoid poor drainage and waste disposal.
Speaking from his office on Friday, the Environmental Officer, Mr. James Kaburu said that some of the common causes of outbreaks are usually due to improper disposal of waste citing the recent cholera outbreak that struck Nakuru.
The Kiambu township ward administrator Mr. Antony Kibali on the same note said that the county government was initiating the use of layer dustbins across the county and town so that they can collect the wastes and properly dispose of them.
Mr. Kibali also said that proper disposal of waste would facilitate good drainage systems which would come in handy especially during the rainy season.
"The best way to improve the state of cleanliness in the county townships is to educate the residents of its importance,” he said.
He also said that every first Monday of the month residents and offenders would participate in community service by cleaning up the town.
