North Eastern residents have been urged to closely work with the police and other security agents so as to help curb terrorism attacks in the area.
Issuing the appeal to Kenyans on Tuesday afternoon, the police spokesperson,Charles Owino stated that Kenyans ought to change their misguided perception of the police force.
‘'I have noted that there is a much pervading fear among the members of public because they believe that our police and other law enforcers are working with criminals. This is not true. Let us trust our security officers and work together for a peaceful nation,’' Owino said.
He further stated that suspicious practices within the police force should be reported directly to the Inspector General via his responsive Twitter handle.
"If the public notes a suspicious deal involving any officer or does not have any confidence in a police officer in charge, they should immediately engage with the Inspector General on official Twitter account and such incidents," he added.
Owino, however, regretted that there are reports of Al-Shabaab insurgents roaming in the North Eastern villages, issuing that patrols have been intensified in Garissa and Mandera to avert further attacks.
