Kisii county environmental director, Samson Bokea, has warned residents of Kisii against littering.
He gave a stern warning to those who carry out these acts. He went ahead to threaten them with jail time if caught in the act. Bokea who was speaking on Egesa radio station on Wednesday, warned residents for not keeping the environment clean by throwing and dumping waste everywhere.
He advised residents to keep the environment clean as one way protecting themselves from outbreak of diseases.
''I appeal to all residents to make sure that the environment is always clean so that we can free ourselves from any diseases that comes as result of dubbing waste,'' he said.
He also accused schools of being the proprietors of dumbing garbage in rivers whereas the same rivers are being used by residents.
''There are some schools that damp waste into rivers, from toilets. We urge them to stop that habit so that we keep our environment clean,'' added Bokea.
In addition he said that the county government of Kisii has got exhausters which can be used to collect such wastes from schools.
