The current political leaders that we have in Kenya started politics while they were still at the University.
Siaya senator James Orengo, Gitobu Imanyara, Hassan Omar, and even authors like Miguna Miguna just to mention a few, were student leaders who stood their grounds and advocated for policy based politics that even shaped the national political framework.
By then, student Unions were strong and had a huge impact on the national politics.
The revolution that happened in South Africa during Apartheid was largely due to a united and strong University Students union.
It is very sad that the current University student leadership is marred by cheap tribal politics and corruption.
In fact, it is the student leaders that are being used to perpetrate violence and spread propaganda.
If we want to revolutionize our politics, we must go back to the Lecture halls, not rant on Facebook and Twitter.
