Residents of Rhonda in Nakuru West sub-county have expressed optimism and good times ahead due to the ongoing renovation of roads in the area.
Some of the roads are under refurbishment.
The residents said the improved roads will boost trade in the area and ease transport.
Jack Gakero, a vegetable vendor admitted that it was not very easy to move across the crowded market centers in the area since the roads were not only narrow but was also flooded from time to time.
"It wasn't very easy here especially for our customers who had to contend with wading through floods whenever it rained or squeezing their way through as this road used to get too congested. But now with improved roads, we expect business and even transport to be better," he said.
His sentiments were echoed by a boda boda operator who only identified himself as Ras.
"The truth is, currently, movement across these roads is easy. However, if they will be completed as planned, then it will be all rosy for all of us and especially the motorists," he stated.
Maria Njogu too was upbeat over the improved state of roads saying the move to rehabilitate them will not only eased transport on the busy Rhonda- Shabab route but also rid the area of dust during the dry season.
"Our roads used to be so dusty that even walking around was a problem. However, the renovation has seen all that dissipate," she said.
The county government through its Ministry of Roads is currently improving the state of the roads in the western suburb of the town.
