The assistant chief of Ithanga location Francis Mutie in Machakos county has stated that illicit brewers have taken advantage of river banks as their hidden brewing areas.
The administrator on Wednesday further stated that the observation had been made following several recent crackdown on illicit brew in the region.
"We have declared war on illicit brewers and in more than three incidents we found brewing activities on the river banks," said Mutie.
Mutie further confirmed that on Tuesday night between 8 and 9 a.m with the help of community policy officers they poured at least 1500 litres of illicit brews known as Kangara and Chang'aa.
"In Kituamba we poured more 23 drums of liquor that the government of Kenya gas termed as illegal at the banks of Thika River," he added.
Ithanga location provides the border between Machakos county and Thika.
