Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira has urged business owners and operators especially in supermarkets, entertainment outlets and other social premises to put in place proper security measures for their customers.
Speaking to journalists in Ruiru on Friday, Thuranira advised the businesses owners in the area to ensure security of residents is taken care of.
The OCPD asked the owners to thoroughly conduct searches to all customers visiting their premises.
“We are advising owners and operators of supermarkets, and entertainment outlets to ensure their customers are screened thoroughly in order to easily detect criminals and bad elements,” said Thuranira.
The OCPD said security should not be taken for granted adding that the police will be mounting more patrols across Ruiru.
Thuranira also asked operators of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) to screen their passengers.
He said the move will ensure safety of passengers noting that in the past criminals and terror elements have used PSVs to stage attacks.
Thuranira assured locals that security will be intensified and urged them to be on the lookout.
He asked locals to report any suspicious people or acts that they may encounter to enable the police to take action.
“Members of the public should remain vigilant and report people they suspect to be suspicious,” said Thuranira.
On Tuesday, Ruiru MP Esther Gathongo while speaking at Mwihoko in Githurai, urged the police to conduct more patrols and enhance security in the area.
