The Ministry of Education has been summoned by the deputy president, William Ruto to deal with people from the ministry who leak exams to high school students.
This comes barely a week after education CS, Fred Matiang’i announced the KCSE results with over 5000 students said to have copied exams.
Last year’s exams were said to have recorded the highest number of irregulars as technology facilitated the quick spread of the leaked papers through Whatsapp.
The minister revealed that Nairobi County led in the leakage as Isiolo had no exam irregularities.
‘‘We have asked the ministry of education to deal with those who follow shortcuts. Instead of letting students read to pass exams, they encourage them not to study, therefore, leading to them looking for leakages. It is shameful that those people in the ministry are the ones leaking the exams,’’ said Ruto.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers’ (KNUT) chairman, Wilson Sossion said teachers should not be blamed for the exam malpractices but instead, the ministry should be held accountable.
