Wednesday was a good day for students at Riamokobe Primary School in Birongo Ward in Kisii County after drama participants were awarded sh100,000 for performing well in last year's drama festival.

The area MP, Richard Ton’gi, had late last year promised to reward every school in the constituency that would get to the national level in the drama festivals.

Presenting the cheque to the school head the MPs' personal assistant, Charles Ochoi, said the constituency is committed to nurturing the talents and called upon more schools to ensure they perform better in co-curricular activities.

''We want to encourage and motivate pupils in the area so that they can easily identify their talents in good time and that will see them earn a good living,'' he said.

Ochoi called upon the teachers and parents to ensure they give students the support they need in order to excel.

During the event, the school head, Evans Orina, said he is set on ensuring the school gets more awards in all areas in 2016 and more years to come.
