A number of schools in Kisii County did not receive their examinations due to irregularities.
A total of 294 students from the county had their examinations cancelled which saw Kisii top in irregularities in Nyanza region.
St Paul's Omonayo Secondary School in Nyamira, Ibacho Secondary School, Gesicho and Nyanturago Secondary Schools were among the affected. Leading in the list was Omonayo Secondary school that shares a sub county with Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
66 candidates from the school received a "Y" for alleged irregularities in the chemistry practical exam.
The school's Principal Lawrence Maranga said he was surprised by the news.
"The school never received complaints from the supervisor during the examination period. None of the students were found on the wrong side by any of the invigilators. This is a big surprise to me," Maranga said.
At Getembe Secondary School, 43 out of 89 candidates failed to get their mathematics paper results.
Though the school's Principal Oroni Omwoyo confessed that some of his candidates had said that they had seen a copy of the paper prior to sitting the exam.
"It is a sad day and a big blow because some of our best students are affected. This is a day school and I can’t monitor how the students operate during exam period," he said.
Ibacho Secondary School students did not receive their agriculture paper results. Another school that was caught up in the mess was Nyanturago Secondary School, where the results of 70 students got cancelled.
The students did not receive their business paper results.
