There was joy this morning at Kerina secondary school as the school reopened after being closed for more than two weeks over school fees wrangles between the parents and the school administration.
It took the intervention of Kisii South sub-county education officer Charles Ombuori to ensure that learning commenced in the school after parents held demonstration when the school head allegedly increased school fees beyond the required amount.
Speaking during the reopening one the form for students Eric Onserio said he is happy they are back to school as that will see them finish up the syllabus before sitting for their KCSE exams later on this year.
“We thank the administration and education officers for ensuring that we are back to school as we form four candidates we were so much worried,” he added.
According to the school head Peter Mokandu they were under pressure to increase the school fees considering that the operating costs have gone high.
“We have entered into an agreement with parents on the amount they are supposed t pay and they are now comfortable with that,” he added.
