The state is working on sustainable policies to ensure security in Athi River Sub-County is intensified ahead of the festive season.
The region's deputy county commissioner Kodeck Makori, said his office was working closely with relevant security apparatus in the region to ensure any loopholes for security lapse during the period were promptly sealed.
Makori said Athi River Sub-County has a large population especially in the towns of Athi River, Mlolongo and Syokimau with new residential houses being increasingly put up in areas like Syokimau, Lukenya, Joska and Kinanie.
He says there was the need to develop a comprehensive strategic plan to step up security during the period throughout early 2016.
"Criminals had in the past taken advantage of the area being cosmopolitan and near Nairobi and Namanga towns with easy escape routes whenever they had committed crime," he said.
Makori who spoke to this reporter in his office at Athi River town on Wednesday said security officers would be spread out across the sub-county in a bid to ensure all the residents were always safe whether at home or while undergoing their day-to-day businesses.
