Community policing members in Sensi ward, Kisii County have challenged the county government to provide them with resources to facilitate night patrols.
Speaking to this writer on Thursday, community policing chairman in Sensi ward Wilfred Ombonyo said they require gumboots and rechargeable torches among other items.
He says they should be in gumboots during the night because of ongoing rains and the government should act with haste to facilitate their activities.
“We ask our government to provide us with gumboots and torches because we cannot be effective in the area without the requirements,” Ombonyo said.
They also challenged the government to give them a monthly stipend saying their activities have led to the reduction of crime in the ward.
“We are not paid currently, but the government should sympathize with us and give us a small stipend to keep us going,” he added.
