A section of members of the Ruiru South land buying company are calling upon the government to fast-track the issuance of title deeds to them in order to curb the ongoing land wrangles in the company.

The shareholders, who belong to a group called Mahiira Housing Company, are condemning a group of ill-intentioned directors for creating unease in the company. They said the controversial directors have been assigning single plots to several people and thus causing havoc among the shareholders.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, the group said that more than 300 acres of land have been managed by three directors since they joined the company but upon dying of two of them, the wrangles emerged from the company back in 2013 to date.

Since then, two ghost directors have been conspiring with the remaining director and have since stopped the title deeds issuance to the members and further increased the title deeds fees from sh15,000 to sh80,000 which has been hard for them to raise thus leading to them not getting title deeds.

Most of the members affiliated to the land buying company led by Catherine Njoki, Benson Mwangi and Antony Irungu, said that they paid for their title deeds in 2014 but have never received them.

They also stated that the directors are never present in their offices, both in Ruiru and Nairobi, making it hard for them to get answers for their numerous questions.

Speaking from his office, Ruiru sub-county administrator, Mohamud Abdi, said that the group had earlier approached him for help but his efforts to reconcile the two skirmishing parties were futile.

Abdi said that he had tried summoning both parties in his office for a meeting meant to resolve the problem but the directors were unreachable thus no one could receive the letter on their behalf.
