Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has urged politicians to shun divisive politics and work together in serving Kenyans.
Governor Joho told his opponents to stop using abusive political stunts and respect each other especially during public functions.
He asked the leaders to instead adopt constructive ideologies and to be tolerant of each other for unity and peace to prevail in the country.
Kenyans have a right to support political ideologies of their choice and we need to respect everyone’s choice, said the governor.
“We must respect one another. Resorting to politics of confrontation and abuse will not help in developing the country,” he said.
“I will speak about peace and love but do not push me to the wall. Everyone has a right to support political ideologies of their choice and it should be respected,” he said.
The governor who was speaking during a youth theater festival in Mombasa Town urged the youth to shun leaders who have no regard for the rule of law.
Last week on Friday, governor Joho and Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko almost exchanged blows before the launch of street lighting project in Mombasa by President Uhuru Kenyatta after the two refused to greet each other.
