The society in Nakuru County has been called upon to value deaf students and stop treating them like second class people.
Ngala School for the Deaf Principal John Gachiga said for a long time, deaf people have been looked down upon by the society and even denied basic rights.
Speaking Friday, Gachiga said some deaf students have been denied the chance to go to school because their parents have refused to pay school fees for them.
"Some parents see no importance of paying school fees for hearing impaired students because they think that such children cannot bring any value to the society which is untrue,"said Gachiga.
"The society should start valuing these people because they have a lot they can do to better the society and we should give them all the support they need," he added.
