Members of various departmental committees in the Nyamira County assembly have been warned of submitting shallow report for discussion in the assembly.

Speaking in an informal meeting with the assembly on Wednesday evening, speaker Joash Nyamoko said he was worried of continued submission of reports that were not exhaustively concluded hence making it cumbersome for the assembly to meet datelines.

Nyamoko urged chairs of departmental committee to take their responsibilities ‘seriously’ in a bid to give the house credibility it deserves in its oversight, representation and legislative roles.

“As you r chair, I am particularly worried with submitting of reports that are shallow and incomplete to the house for discussion. You are mandated to come with concrete reports to vindicate this house on persistent criticism from members of the public,” he said

The county speaker warned of taking ‘bold’ measures to tame committee that were involved in the vice and also insisted need for the committee to not only interrogate departments that are in question before writing final reports.

“I am ready to take a bold step as your speaker to see work being done. The taxpayers’ money must be put into use properly by this institution interrogating all involved parties in a matter on enquiry as a way of being objective and impartial,” he added.

He also urged representatives to attend all assembly sittings unless they have permission from his office.
