Matungulu deputy county commissioner has warned illicit brewers and bar attendants who attempt to assault chiefs and village elders carrying out crackdowns on illicit brews in the county of dire consequences.
Mwangi said incidences of brewers, bar attendants and hired goons harassing chiefs and the village elders mostly in Kilimambogo and Donyo Sabuk areas have been reported to his office which he said does not auger well in the fight against killer brews.
Investigations have already commenced and those found culpable of the offence will face the full force of the law, he warned while addressing a Baraza in Kisukioni area on Friday morning.
"Stern action will be taken against individuals or groups who engage themselves in such deeds because they are obstructing government officers from doing their work,” warned Mwangi.
“They are protected by the law,” he said adding that the war on illicit brews would only end when all illicit dens are destroyed and owners arrested.
