Former Subukia Mp Hon. Koigi wa Wamwere, has criticized president Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, saying his recent actions portray him (Museveni) as a dictator, who is not up to give the people of Uganda “ free and fair elections".

Koigi wrote this on his Facebook account shortly after Ugandan police arrested opposition leader Kizza Besigye while on his trail of campaigns at Kampala on Monday.

“On Saturday I listened to a presidential debate in Uganda where President Museveni committed himself to free and fair elections on Thursday. The following morning, the same Museveni promised Uganda and the world that he would step down if he lost elections” Koigi posted.

The CCM party leader went ahead and said: “But that Museveni’s police today (Monday) arrested and later released Mr. Besigye proves Museveni is a dictator, no wonder he rubbished ICC during the presidential debate."

According to Koigi, Museveni is not ready to step down if he loses to Besigye or Mbabazi, and therefore ‘Kenyans should support free and fair elections in Uganda’.

“Probably Museveni does not mean his commitment to give Ugandans free and fair elections or his promise to step down if he loses elections. Museveni must know there is life after elections” he said.
