Speaking during the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts (ACCA) summit held at Maseno University’s boardroom, Mr Steven Odongo urged the students to capitalize on building their careers instead of engaging in unproductive activities.

The education director at ACCA told the students to start putting into practice the professional skills they learn in their respective courses.

“This will enable you increase your scope of getting employed or even being self-employed,” he said.

He continued to mention that the country at the moment has very few employment opportunities that can only be grabbed by industrious graduates who have vast knowledge in their areas of specialization.

Mr Odongo also urged the youth not to shy away from doing small jobs like working in supermarkets as sales persons or even as Bodaboda operators since they act as stepping stones in anyone’s career life.

The Summit is being held at Maseno University for two days, Thursday 4th and Friday 5th.

It is aimed at providing career advice and also tapping students to enroll for Professional Accounts courses at the ACCA.
