Kisii County will host an entrepreneurship summit from February 24 at Kisii University to identify how to deepen ties between business leaders, entrepreneurs in Kenya and other business communities around the world.
The main aim is to promote entrepreneurship and encourage the youth and the general public to consider entrepreneurship and innovation as an alternative to employment.
Governor James Ongwae through his official Facebook page Tuesday said his quest is to enhance service delivery to citizens and to provide a conducive environment for investment.
“In Kisii County, we are committed to actively pursuing interventions that will foster investment. We are keen to explore practical and realistic ways of creating value out of the abundant resources to achieve faster economic growth. We intend to leverage on our rich agricultural potential to transform the county into a middle income economy,” said Mr Ongwae.
Mr Ongwae observed that economic growth must be driven by focused public and private sector investments taking into account the comparative advantage in resource availability.
He also said the county government has invested heavily in infrastructural development especially in the areas of roads, ICT, health and water reticulation.
“With our proximity to niche tourism products like Ruma National Park, Kisumu Impala sanctuary and Maasai Mara Game Reserve and our strategic location as the South Nyanza regional economic hub, we are undoubtedly the best investment destination,” he said.
The governor welcomed all partners, investors and other guests to the Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit to explore and invest their ideas.
