The National Land Commission has called on political leaders in Nakuru to desist from land issues saying they are the reason for the many land disputes in the county.
On Thursday, Chairperson Mohammed Swazuri, accused some leaders of using the land issue to gain political mileage but remain silent after being elected into office.
Speaking at the Nyandarua Progressive Agencies Solai land in Rongai, Swazuri further earmarked Nakuru as the county with the leading land dispute cases, but expressed commitment in having them solved before the year ends.
"The main problem we have in Nakuru is that politicians from successive regimes have filed different cases in different courts and nobody seems to be making a follow up. Such stalled cases are very tricky, especially where the said politician lost elections or died," said Swazuri when he issued 200 title deeds to members of the Nyandarua Progressive Agencies.
Swazuri further took issue with cooperative societies that have failed to stick to their operational constitutions saying some officials were ignoring the laid down rules for personal reasons.
The 7, 000 acre Nyandarua Progressive Agencies Solai farm has been in a succession brawl for over 40 years.
