Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has advised youth in the county to stop neglecting technical institutions and instead register for various courses in order to acquire necessary technical skills.

Mbugua who spoke when he met with the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology Chief Principal Eddy Koimett added that the move will help the youth to become self reliant.

‘It is high time the youth should take up vocational training in polytechnics as one way of getting an assurance to an improved livelihood. That is why as a county, we are committed to supporting the technical institutions to continue providing their variety of skills to the youth in order to help them make their own income,’ Mbugua stated on Friday.

The county boss also warned the youth against underrating the technical courses while adding that one can start from any level to get to where they want to in life.

‘Technical institutions are neither for failures nor inferiors, anyone can start from learning the technical courses to progress up to the university.’ Mbugua added.

Mbugua also promised to continue his support on matters education to ensure that the youth in the region are learned and skilled in various fields of their interests.
