Youth in Likoni area, Mombasa County have been challenged to get serious with their lives if they are to remain meaningful to the community.
The Likoni Youth Caucus has warned young people against engaging in petty activities that are not meaningful to their lives.
The group's leader Yusuf Abdalla said Wednesday they are plan to roll out a programme in their quest to better the lives of youth who have reduced themselves to idle talk.
Abdalla who has been heading the group since 2013, said it is high time that the youth in Likoni redefined their purpose in life and be focused.
He said he is often angered by reports of youths engaging in all criminal activities.
'I am not happy when I get all these bad reports about our youth" said Abdalla.'
"They are my fellow youths and it pains when you hear that so and so has been killed due to robbery', he added.
According to him, these predicaments can be remedied if everyone took the youths seriously by understanding their plight.
He said they need not just to be criticised but rather to be understood so that a meaningful action is taken to change their lives.
'These young men need mentoring as it's the only way someone can lead a righteous life,'he said even as he promised to take a decisive step in bettering the lives of the youth.
