Uasin Gishu County government is determined to ensure its residents pay taxes for it to improve service delivery and undertake projects.
Speaking during the launch of a revenue collection management system at Jua Kali Town on Friday, deputy governor Daniel Chemno said through paying taxes, residents are guaranteed better services.
"We decided to embark on the new revenue collection system since we were losing a lot of money, because many people were not paying taxes.
He revealed that over 70 per cent of residents were not paying taxes.
"As Uasin Gishu County government, we had set a target to collect Sh1 billion this financial year, but due to tax evasion we have only collected Sh400 million. The use of this new system will increase our revenue collection by 70 per cent," he said.
He urged the residents to ensure they pay taxes.
He warned those evading paying tax of arrests.
