Deputy President William Ruto has expressed the government's commitment to transforming the education sector through digitization.
Ruto said the government will work hand in hand with teachers to ensure digital learning project countrywide is a success.
He said that teachers are the core of transformation agenda in the education sector.
“We have laid down infrastructure for digital learning as we aspire to make education more accessible and relevant to the global situation. No technology or device can replace the teacher, but we are building their capacity to leverage on technology to execute their noble mandate of molding our young people,” Ruto posted on his official Facebook page.
Recently, the government through the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) approved 1,360 of publications in digital format to aid the implementation of the Sh17 billion school laptop project - with Class One pupils countrywide expected to be the first beneficiaries of the ambitious project.
