Teachers in training from across six counties in the country gathered at the Thogoto Teachers College in Kikuyu for the Metropolitan Teaching Training Centres (TTC) Drama Festivals, a title given for the region.

The teachers were from training centres located in Kiambu, Nairobi, Makueni, Kitui, Narok and Mwingi.

Hundreds filled the hall to watch the performances.

Principal Thogoto TTC Naomi Kimotho and chair of principals Metropolitan TTC Drama Association Samson Komen were also in the theatre hall, where the different performances were presented, and were seen to enjoy watching the different genres of drama.

The performances included plays, cultural dances, stand-up comedy, modern dances and solo verses.

The International TTC from Isinya performed the Luhya dance ‘Ingalukhani’, which was a colourful performance that received a hearty clap from the audience.

Director of the ‘Ingalukhani’ dance, Alvin Mokaya said he was pleased with the performance and hoped they win first place in the category.

He said the dance was telling a story about the tussle between TSC and KNUT, which left the students’ with a raw deal where they missed classes and important learning hours.

The adjudicators of the two-day event were Sitati Edwin, Fredrick Shikuku and Florence Oloo.

Winners of the festival would be announced at a later date, and would proceed to compete at the national level on April 3 in Meru.
