Teachers across Nyamira County who area used to abscond duties risk losing their jobs and being prosecuted over the same.

According to Nyamira County Education Executive Jones Omwenga, they are currently working closely with the teachers' employers TCS and the national government officials to ensure that the levels of education is on the rise once again.

Omwenga said they have already ordered all school head teachers and principals to ensure that all teachers report to work daily.

“In the past few months parents have been reporting cases whereby teachers are involved in their business during school hours instead of going to their work in their respective stations, that will have to stop,” he added.

He said that the tendency of teachers missing classes for their private duties is not acceptable, and the education stakeholders will be taking actions over the same.

“I call upon parents to help us in ensuring that teachers do their work so that we can reach where we need or achieve our educational goals as a county,” he added.

Omwenga was speaking in Kebirigo on Tuesday during a burial of a veteran teacher.
