Plot owners in Kamwangi town  have been urged to screen their tenants before allowing them live in the area.

According to Daniel Nyamiti, Gatundu North sub-county commissioner, landlords should ask tenants to produce certificates of good conduct before giving them a house.

Nyamiti, who spoke in Kamwangi on Sunday,  lamented the rising cases of insecurity in the area.

"‘This is a measure which is in line with the government policy of Nyumba Kumi aimed at checking incidences of insecurity," he said.

The police boss blamed incidents of robbery in the area on landlords who fail to know the people living in their houses.

He asked chiefs to demand all house owners in the area to have a record of people occupying their rental houses.

This comes in the wake of cases of armed robberies in the town which left several people dead.
