The Mombasa Law Court on Wednesday ordered that a terror suspect to be detain for 30 days pending investigations by the police.
Mombasa Senior Principal Magistrate Simon Rotich issued the orders following an application by the investigation officers who asked for more time to enable them complete their investigations.
The suspect, Mahmoud Salim Mohammed, was taken before the Court after he was suspected to have connections with the terror group Al-Shabaab.
The accused who is said to have surrendered was arrested on January 5 in Malindi after escaping a raid by the Anti-Terror Police Unit.
Police said they would need more time to probe the activities of the suspect.
Mahmoud becomes the latest terror suspect to be arrested and detained in the Coastal town.
Police have of recent mounted patrols in the to crackdown on terror suspects said to be hiding in one of Kenya's ancient towns.
His arrest comes President Uhuru Kenyatta concludes his visit in the town.
The President has initiated several development projects in Mombasa town.
